in a dawn of men, a primate smashes its own species with a bone as a weapon, throws it into the vast blue sky , drops down, and suddenly becoming a modern spaceship floating in dark starry space in the next scene. This magnificent science fiction (or i'd rather say, science speculation is a more proper term) masterpiece lets the audience to be drown into Johann Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz transcendental tune, along with the whimsical Ligeti's Requiem and Atmospheres as well as Richard Strauss' Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Following the music, this space opera will encapsulate the audience and transport them into the four acts segments of human evolution's stages, from the dawn of men, mission to the moon, the jupiter mission, and most importantly, the psychedelic trip to the jupiter and beyond; along with the appearance of the long-debated controversial black monolith throughout the film. This movie definitely will draw various perceptions from each viewers. It may be just simply a space travel experience, or it may be a complex extra-terrestrial God intervention conspiracy, or even can be a horrific speculation of technology takes over human life. However, as what has been stated in the last line of Jack Arnold's The Incredible Shrinking Man (1956), "To God, There is no Zero"

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Portsmouth for the transfer of Peter Crouch to the Club, following the player successfully completing a medical examination and agreeing personal terms.

The England international scored 16 goals in all competitions last season during his second spell at Portsmouth having previously enjoyed eight months at Fratton Park from July 2001 where he scored 19 goals in 39 games.

The 28-year-old joined Aston Villa in March 2002, before moving to Southampton for the start of the 2004/05 campaign. His performances at St Mary's attracted the attentions of Liverpool and after just one season at Southampton, where he scored 16 times in 33 games, he moved to Anfield.

Woman finds 'Twilight' sequel script in trash

A beauty salon owner found the highly sought after script in St. Louis, and returns it to studio

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis beauty salon owner accidentally happened upon one of the hottest Hollywood scripts — the pages from an upcoming "Twilight" sequel — in a trash bin.

Casey Ray found two scripts, one for the vampire sequel "New Moon" and one for a different movie titled "Memoirs." She decided to return them to the studio making the films. In return, she was invited to attend the movies' premieres, her lawyer said.

Ray recently was waiting for her fiance to finish work when she spotted two scripts in a trash container. She was outside a hotel where actors were staying during a St. Louis shoot for the upcoming George Clooney movie, "Up in the Air."

It's not clear how the scripts wound up in the bin.

The Clooney movie includes actress Anna Kendrick, who is also in the "Twilight" vampire movie. A spokeswoman for Kendrick, Lisa Perkins, said the actress wouldn't have left scripts lying around.

When Ray found the scripts, she considered leaking them to a national tabloid but decided against it, said her lawyer, Al Watkins.

"My client didn't really want to get paid," he said, but she was interested in hanging onto the scripts as collector's items.

Watkins helped her return them to Los Angeles-based Summit Entertainment LLC, the studio making the movies. He said the studio invited Ray to premieres for the two films, and will certify the scripts as authentic after the movies are released.

"Summit doesn't comment on any of the deals it does," Summit spokesman Paul Pflug said. But he added, "We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing."

The "Twilight" movies are based on the novels of Stephenie Meyer, so many of the plot turns are well known to readers. But keeping the "New Moon" script written by Melissa Rosenberg out of the public eye preserves which elements of the book will be included in the films, Pflug noted.

Last year's original "Twilight" film grossed over $350 million worldwide.

Once again, the novel "Lolita" is very very different from movie. It is structured as a mystery with the dead Humbert's memoir being read by his lawyer.

In book, we know that Humbert had committed a murder but don't know name of his victim. This changes, of course, in movie, as Humbert kills Quilty in the opening sequence. Book's closing passage is almost verbatim from movie's opening.

Other changes from page to screen:

1. First 34 pages are backstory about Humbert's youth in France, where at age 12 he meets Annabel, also 12, on the Riviera. In a very Poe-like way, he becomes fixated on Annabel, who dies shortly after their meeting: In a way, story, besides being about a lecherous dirty old man (pedophile), posits the idea of arrested sexual development. (Both book and movie are told by Humbert in the 1st Person.)

2. Lolita is younger -- 12, rather than Sue Lyon's 14 . ("Nymphets" are defined by Humbert as maidens "between the age of limits of nine and fourteen.")

3. Quilty is a marginal figure in the book, who is only glimpsed in the early passages.

4. No high school dance sequence in the book.

5. Enchanted Hunters Hotel is holding a religious retreat, not policemen's convention. Quilty puts in an appearance, but dialogue on the hotel porch is very different than in script (Sellers was encouraged to improvise "normal sort of guy" riffs.)

6. Humbert contemplates drowning, not shooting, Charlotte (Shelley Winters) in book. (Note: Winters dies from drowning in earlier movie "A Place in the Sun" so Kubrick and V. Nabokov obviously wanted to change this.)

7. There is no slapstick-y cot sequence in the book. Humbert methodically hatches a plot to drug Lolita and, once she is knocked out, climbs into bed with her. He tells reader that "it was she who seduced me." (Obviously, Production Code restrictions made it impossible to film Nabokov's hotel sequence.)

Once they begin their cross-country odyssey, Humbert describes Lolita: "A combination of naivete and deception, of charm and vulgarity, of blue sulks and rosy mirth, Lolita, when she chose, could be a most exasperating brat."

David Blaine introduces a new routine into his act, claiming that blindfolded, he can identify any football club just by running his hands over a ball used on their training ground. Managers from a number of clubs are asked to appear on his show.

The first up is 'Arry Redknapp. In return for a brown envelope passed under the table by a middle man, 'Arry 'ands the blindfolded Blaine the ball. Blaine's hands pass over the ball for a few minutes and he says, "I can hear cockerals crowing inanely at dawn screaming 'One day we will be a top 4 team'. I can feel a cock cut off in its prime. I can feel money washing down the drain. I can hear the sound of loose bowels as the tension mounts. This ball must belong to Tottenham." 'Arry's head twitches in amazement and the audience explodes in applause.

Next up is the smiling Zola. Blaine is passed the ball and after a few minutes says, "I can hear the Bow Bells. I can hear the words, 'They think it is all over. It is now.' I can feel quality, entertainment, brilliant young talent. I can feel the agony of cruel injuries but I sense hope for a wonderful future. I can hear the sound of hammering on a castle door. This ball must belong to West Ham!"

Next up comes Wenger. "This ball isn't English," says Blaine after a couple of minutes of fondling. "I can hear cannons firing but missing their targets. I can hear moaning, complaining. I can see a blind man unable to see anything that goes against his side out on the pitch. This ball belongs to Arsenal."

Last up is Shearer. He hands the ball to Blaine who immediately complains, "This is too easy. This ball belongs to Newcastle, it is going down!"

How did they make a movie of Lolita?
a line which appears in the advertisement of Lolita during the 60's, the question responding to Lolita's controversial appearance in the middle of Hollywood's censorship era
Kubrick made this movie after his two commercial success of The Killing (1956) and Paths of Glory (1957). Again, with James B Harris, they both revamped Vladimir Nabokov's novel with the same title, which was released after 1955 into a controversial movie at the that time.
The Hollywood's production code and The Catholic Legion of Decency banned Lolita at the first time it was published until then after Kubrick-Harris hired Martin Quildy to become the moderator for this case.
Lolita succesfully breaks the censorship and was released in 1962. However, it was given 'condemned' rating for adult viewers. Therefore, ironically, when this film first time screened in New York, the main actress Sue Lyon was not allowed to attend the gala.
